SEPANG - Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah's self-assembled flight
simulator was programmed with three flight simulation games, but the
games' data logs had been cleared on Feb 3, said Inspector General of
Police Khalid Abu Bakar on Wednesday.
Captain Zaharie's flight simulator was taken from his home at Shah Alam to the police headquarters at Bukit Aman last Saturday for investigation, following revelations by the Malaysian authorities that the missing Beijing-bounhd MAS jetliner was deliberately diverted from its scheduled flight path by someone with advanced aviation know-how.
"Local and international expertise have been recruited to examine the pilot's flight simulator," said Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein on Wednesday's press briefing at Sama-Sama Hotel, near Kuala Lumpur International Hotel.
"Some data had been deleted from the simulator and forensic work to retrieve this data is on-going," he said, but cautioned that "the passengers, the pilots and the crew remain innocent until proven otherwise."
All passengers, crew and ground staff handling the aircraft are now being investigated, confirmed Mr Khalid, the inspector-general of police, as the search for the missing aircraft enters its 12th day.
Mr Khalid added that the pilots' families have been cooperating fully with the police, and his team has had no problem getting information on both pilots.
Information on the passengers on board the missing MH370 have been received from all countries except Ukraine and Russia, said Mr Hishammuddin .
"So far, no information of significance on any passengers has been found," the minister said.
